Representative volumes of liturgical songs – clear evidence of the religious – musical serbian – romanian conexions Summary
A collection under the title Pravoslavno srpsko narodno crkveno pojanje – opšte pojanje
(Serbian Orthodox Folk Church Singing – General Singing) was published in
Belgrade in 1935, written by the composer and conductor Stevan Stojanović
Mokranjac, edited by his well-known biographer Kosta Manojlović. The very first
pages of the book draws our attention to interesting contents, especially when we
read the preface written by Manojlović, where he describes some of the fields of
work of the great composer. We will consider the collection of StevanMokranjac in
the context of similarities between Serbian and Romanian Church singing, as well
as in the context of common people influence in both cases.
